Daughter of Smoke & Bone
by Laini Taylor
Finally. A book has gone against all the freaking stereotypes that define literature today!!!
1. Love Triangle
2. Girl falls for mysterious boy and can't possibly leave him because there love can last everything so she forgives him no matter how much he hurts her
3. Angels are good
4. Demons are bad
5. Humans are useless
I mean come on. It is time for a revolution here, with Karou in the lead!!! No more shall we now to the stupid stereotypes, we shall deny every single freaking one!!!!
1. No love triangle!! Hallelujah. I don't need to sit around debating about if she is going to choose the asshole or the kind quiet good boy (Hem Hem Beautiful Dark shoutout). I can read the story and the learn about the love interest without having to hate or love him.
2. Karou leaves Akiva!!!!! She doesn't tell him, "we will work through it, its alright you killed my entire freaking race!!" She leaves. So I gotta hand it to Laini Taylor!! Cheers for rewriting the system.
3. The angels are evil!!! Not totally but they aren't all peaceful and perfect, they are badass warriors who are kill entire races!!
4. the demons aren't all bad!! They are actually the heroes!! This book dissolves all, "good and bad and no in between!" Demons are light shades of gray, and angels dark gray!! Its perfect.
5. Humans aren't clueless idiots!! Well not entirely. They don't know what's going on but the book at least acknowledges the fact that its kinda hard to hide a war!!! So it's as realistic as it can be.
Everything else combined with these 5 amazing perfect denials of the system, make this a perfect story, its different, kickass, and awesome overall. Laini literally rewrite ps the system and goes against the general "rules" for paranormal books. So I take my hat off to this book,
