I bought this book well over a year ago, before I had even started my bookstagram, strictly because I loved the cover. Didn’t read the blurb, had never read one of Aly’s books before, zero outside influences whatsoever haha. It just sat on my shelf, patiently waiting for its moment, and what a moment it was! Damn!

When I tell you that this book had me hooked right from the get go, I mean hook, line AND sinker. She comes out swinging and does not let up. You’ve got plot twists left and right, and the way I didn’t see them coming was masterful. Chef’s MF’ing kiss. The characters were so beautifully written, you get all of their emotions and their arcs were absolute perfection, both individually and as a couple. I was actually sitting there at about 30% in complete and utter shock, thinking, “There’s absolutely no fucking way that this is gunna work...” because I just couldn’t see how Aly was going to be able to write what needed to be written in order for it to all come together and make sense. Which sounds cryptic AF, but if you know you know and then it makes so much sense lol. Happy to report that I ate crow and Aly blew my fuckin mind.

I don’t have a single complaint. The storyline, the writing, the editing (thank God!) were all perfection. There was banter and humour and so much emotion. It was raw and real and everything I never knew I needed. There was spice and it was very well written, but it was definitely more plot heavy. The only thing that has it coming down to a 4.5 for me, was that I wanted just a touch more angst and tension during that in between time. Which won’t make sense to anyone until you read it lol.

Absolutely 100% recommend this book! This has catapulted me into my Aly Martinez era. I’m now currently reading book one in her Regret duet and holy fucking shit is it an emotional rollercoaster already and I’m only 30% in haha.
