The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal

3.0

This book had some gruesome moments and they made me feel quite queasy. The book really captures the filth and grime of this era. To be honest, it is apt. for the time setting and well placed for the story.

I was enjoying Iris’ story more than Silas’, but she is a much kinder character.

I thought it had a very bizarre ending. I wanted to know more and would have loved an epilogue at least. The ending was abrupt and I was left a little disappointed.

Elements somewhat reminded me of ‘The Taxidermist’s daughter,’ by Kate Mosse., which I absolutely loved.

I give this book 3.25 stars
