As the first book in a series, I don’t feel it had a satisfying end. It ended on a cliffhanger, which is disappointing to me. As a romance, it was satisfying, though a bit formulaic and slow.
The characters all feel young. They are both aware of their own self-delusions and fight against confronting them in a way that seems immature. The magic systems and settings were interesting.
