Chain of Thorns by Cassandra Clare

2 // oh nawrr what the fook was this?!? "Cordelia ran" DID SHE DID SHE REALLY OMG ITS ALMOST LIKE THAT HASN’T BEEN REPEATED TO US FOR THE PAST 70 CHAPTERS WOWWWWW

This was simply not it. For approx 800 pages this all felt like filler that could have ended 400 pages ago, riddled with plot holes and cliches and unemotional dramatics. By the time I got to this final installment in the Last Hours I kid you not I felt nothing for any of the characters (not to say I felt much in the prior two but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt for an actually impactful finale which I know Clare has been at the very least slightly more capable of in the past - that being said all my memories of reading her books are highly clouded with nostalgia and the uncritical gaze of greater youth so idk how much value my comparisons hold today).

The series was easy to read and entertaining enough to convince me to finish it off but oh boy does it rank the lowest in Clare’s repertoire. Rip
