I really want to enjoy this book a lot more but I feel like it gets SOOO bogged down in between the interesting parts. I also don't think the author describes the world well enough. I'm reading an electronic version and come across stuff and think 'it's either something I don't get that hasn't been explained or it's some kind of typo.'
Having said that I like the different angle she has on the whole vampire thing. They are considered monsters and don't do the whole 'mysterious, black-clad, intriguing stranger' thing (though sometimes that fine!). What's interesting is that for being a vamp book, they really aren't in it too much, which I think is one of the issues I'm having. I'm half way through and I want to know more about the Con/Bo nemesis stuff. We'll see.
