This book really was not for me. I think I'm really looking for escapism with a black lead but this book is very much about real black trauma existing within a fantasy framework. Like The Mortal Instruments but what if the main character experiences all of the terrible things they can't control on a regular basis just like you do? 

Also Bree is one of the most boring Mary Sue's I've read in a long time.
