This is a challenging book to read— not that it’s text is complicated, it is well written, but because of the sheer terror and absolute horror of its subject. It’s not fiction. I’ve read a lot of Holocaust novels, and each of them leave holes in my heart. This one was no different. We must remember the past, so that we are not doomed to repeat it. The people of this book will stay with you long after you turn the last page.
