Strange Sally Diamond
by Liz Nugent
I think if you’re curious about reading this story, you should to take into consideration that there’s a lot of talks of abuse, sexual violence, self harm, mental health… Here’s some things to think about before possibly reading this:
-Generational trauma is going to be present but how you handle it is just as important.
-Working through past life altering experiences doesn’t get fixed quickly or overnight, it is not a straight path. Sometimes we do fall back into what is familiar and destructive.
-Cognitive dissonance and understanding healthy relationships can be warped by outside influences especially seeing how our family members’ behaviors.
This story has funny moments, dark moments, disturbing moments, hopeful moments, sad moments that help move the story along. 3 parts, quick read as it moves the story along. Some people might think that the story might not be going anywhere but stick through it because it is worth it.
If you’re just seeing Sally’s, Mark’s, Lindy”s, Denise’s, Peter’s story as just a story and not take into consideration about traumatic events and mental health, then you might not like this book.
