Skylark Farm by Antonia Arslan

4.0

3.5 really. I think this review from the NYTimes says it best. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/04/books/review/de_Bellaigue.t.html?_r=0

Arslan's a promising writer, and this book has much merit, but the writing is uneven and at times the prophetic plot devices seem out of place. Writing about such horror is, of course, exceedingly difficult, but I agree with the Times review when it says some of the most chilling moments descend into bathos.

Having said that -- the book is worth reading in part for the timeliness and cruciality of the subject matter.
