It was definitely a different experience not only listening to this on audio but as a reread several years after the first time reading it. The big twist was just as good, I think, but I started getting a little exasperated with some of the plot beats and even a few holes in the second half of the book. I do think this book deserves its place as a classic of the thriller genre, and I do think it actually aged pretty well even though it's absolutely a product of its time (oh, the 2010s).
Gillian Flynn writes such great nasty, unlikeable characters, even if they teeter on the edge of believability. I hope she publishes again, it's been so long, I would read more by her.
