[a: Ellen Kushner|11889|Ellen Kushner|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1243007888p2/11889.jpg] writes so well that though the story didn't really interest me I still devoured it in one sitting and enjoyed it.

The story is about a young competitive american swords women in the 60's France learning fencing at a summer school. She runs into a mysterious man fencing one night. To say any more about the plot and I would have to find the spoiler tag.

The girl seemed rather isolated and sheltered and I am not quite sure why it was set in the 60's?

I read this book after reading [b: Swordspoint (Riverside, #1)|68485|Swordspoint (Riverside, #1)|Ellen Kushner|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388903158s/68485.jpg|1453593] & [b: The Privilege of the Sword (Riverside, #2) |821583|The Privilege of the Sword (Riverside, #2)|Ellen Kushner|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1389595637s/821583.jpg|4003] by [a: Ellen Kushner|11889|Ellen Kushner|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1243007888p2/11889.jpg] which I really enjoyed - I realised that one of her short stories was in one of the collections I owned, so my expectations were rather high.
