Middle of the Night by Riley Sager

mysterious

4.0

Happy Pub Day to this super spooky atmospheric thriller about a man whose best friend was snatched from his tent during their backyard sleepover as children and how that’s shaped his life ever since. Now, he’s back in his childhood home after his marriage has ended and his parents are downsizing when his friend’s body is finally found and what really happened that night struggles to surface.

I really enjoyed this one, the narration was so well done—really set the scene and drew me in. I’ve previously only read Final Girls by Riley Sager, and I liked this one far more than that. It manages to land some good twists throughout without going off the rails, but maybe used a feeeew too many red herrings. But, still a fun, quick, thrilling read perfect for spooky summer needs.

Are you a big thriller reader in the summer? I feel like it’s a non stop craving for me when it gets hot.

Thanks to @librofm and @penguinrandomhouse for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review.
