The Thick and the Lean by Chana Porter
medium-paced
3.0
the beginning seemed to drag on forever for me, which unfortunately ruined a lot of my enjoyment. overall it feels almost unfinished or more like unpolished - and the fact that Chana Porter seems to want to touch on a LOT of different heavy topics doesn't help.
also, it was slightly disappointing that we don't really get all that much of the book's main draw: aka the cookbook mentioned in the summary itself. though the snippets we get are really good.
it's not a bad story, but it's clear that it's trying to do too much. lots of floors but no load-bearing walls, just a pillar here and there, some very shaky foundation </3
