A Map to the Sun is a gorgeous, bittersweet meditation on friendship and growing up. This isn’t a feel good, fun comic about girls playing basketball that ends with an easy, satisfying resolution (in that comic, they’d win the big game AND triumph over all friendship and familial conflicts), but instead, like real life, things remain messy and murky. Sloane Leone’s graphic novel feels deeply true to life, and while her character’s go though some really rough moments, the overall tone is compassionate and hopeful.
Moderate: Self harm, Adult/minor relationship, and Addiction
