I picked this book up in highschool, but never got around to reading it. I have never liked a single modern vampire story before (and I’ve tried plenty, though admittedly not the major modern vampire stories) so I wasn’t expecting to like this one. But it was actually great. The writing was excellent and I can’t wait to read more books by this author. The characters were well developed, I love the portrayal of the different relationships, and although some of the plot was predictable, quite a few things threw me for a loop. Really my only criticism has to do with the romanticism of some of the violent scenes. And I get it! It’s a vampire story! It’s supposed to be gorey and romantic! I do know that, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it personally. It was a completely unique story and I really did enjoy it
