I See You by Clare Mackintosh
4.0

3.5 stars, because while this was a page-turner, it wanted you to believe in some pretty ridiculous things. Now, the story involves a website, stalking, women's photos on the newspapers classified ads and a couple of loose plot lines. I liked the main plot, the whole stalking part, it felt suspenseful and surprisingly real - you wouldn't believe what people pay money for and how awful people really are. What didn't work were all the subplots: Zoe's daughter Katie and her big actress dream, Kelly and her sister and something that happened a decade ago and had nothing to do with the rest of the story, a public service agency so incompetent they wouldn't notice hacking... The ending didn't quite hold, because the reasons for why everything happened were pretty damn thin, but this was still an enjoyable read. And I don't know if I'll be able to travel on the tube without wondering what the fellow passengers are up to.
