And yet, love did not wait. Love was there in the beginning—even before the beginning. Love needed no words, no introduction. Existence was enough.

Reading this book was hard, but at the same time, it was powerful, raw, and hopeful. I feel for the characters, for their stories, for their frustration, and for their fight for freedom. I love how you can see the powerful bond between family, the love of a mother, and the hardships of the people around Rachel's life and her own.
