A great adventure story.
The book started a little slow and, quite frankly I was concerned with the opening leg of the author’s thru-hike where he and his buddy were woefully unprepared. However, the story turned into one of leaning and growth and I appreciated the self-awareness throughout.
I felt like this book accurately portrayed how beautiful, but dangerous back country exploration can be, even for the most prepared, most experienced explorers. I also enjoyed the variety of stories and perspectives shown throughout.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in high-adventure tales and has a respect for the land.
