The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang

3.0

This was my second favorite book in the series. I was in love with Quan in the first 2 books… so I was really excited to read his installment. However, He just wasn’t the same! I just didn’t think he had the same swag anymore! Obviously he had a reason to not be as confident… but that aspect definitely knocked down the rating for me.

The heart principle follows Anna. She is a violinist who has lived her life pleasing people. She has always masked her true emotions with a smile and a nod. When her therapist tells her to practice showing her true self, she seeks out a stranger to complete her assignment. ENTER QUAN.

Quan has just gotten over his illness and is finally getting back to his true self. He is still running his company with Michael, teaching the kids at the karate studio, and riding his motorcycle. The only thing he’s missing… the lady killer side of him. When Michael pushes him to have a random hookup, he re-installs his dating apps and starts looking. ENTER ANNA.

There are a couple of things that I didn’t like about this whole series in general. Especially this one…
1. How all the women needed to be protected SOOO much.
2. It felt kind of “insta-lovey” to me.
3. They get back together way to easily! Everything is instantly forgiven with a sexual action.
4. Sex is so predominant in the relationship. Like the minute they have it… they are bound together forever.

However, I do highly recommend this series! Especially the first one!
