Touch of Power
by Maria V. Snyder
Actual rating is somewhere between 3.5 and 4.
I could not put this one down. It was utterly gripping and absolutely fantastic. I loved the characters, particularly sweet, strong Belen and our brave, kind and loving protagonist, Avry. I also adored the romance as it finally blossomed between Avry and. However, while this book was a very enjoyable read, I did find myself questioning it.
Though I really liked this book, I would have to say the biggest let down may be the world building. Don't get me wrong, it was a very interesting world and Snyder has clearly got a wonderful imagination. I just thought that she only created bits of the world for the plot to occur in. Really that should be all well and good, but I just found myself wanting more. With a fantasy book I like to believe that the entire world and its characters have been fully fleshed out, and sadly in this case, I felt a little let down.
As a whole though it was very enjoyable and I have already begun Scent of Magic!
