lyyrav 's review for:

Boy Parts by Eliza Clark

Don't know what to think about this novel so here are some of my thoughts while reading in order:
  • Why is literally nothing happening
  • I get it girl, you've read American Psycho a hundred times, we've all been there
  • "What if the main character of American Psycho was a woman" was maybe a fresh take twenty years ago but now it just feels outdated
  • Okay I'll need to re-read this later and I'll probably enjoy it a lot more on the second round
  • This scene is really intense and powerful but idk, still not buying this Patricia Bateman shit
  • The photography stuff is interesting though and I like Flo (best friend of main character) for some reason
  • I thought we all did agree after the Game of Thrones era that adding sexual violence for shock value is both disgusting and boring
  • The ending is kind of good though?? And makes me want to re-read it immediately because I need to think more about The Boy
  • This novel did a great job in exploring some "darker" kinks; more kinky stuff & photography and less cocaine, alcohol & rape, and I wouldn't even have mentioned American Psycho here
