I liked the story. And that the author has a new character to write about. But I’m really getting tired of his writing style. He takes “police procedural“ much too literally by explaining every thought process the main character has. The words “he knew” have got to be used hundreds of times as a way to describe the main character’s inner dialogue and often it’s to explain the obvious or overexplain what is happening. I’ve read almost all of Connelly‘s books so I guess his characters and his stories keep me coming back, but wow, his straightforward and basic language starts to get too glaring about halfway
through a book and then I have a hard time seeing beyond it.
