Nulle part sur la terre
by Michael Farris Smith
Quite simply, one of the worst books I’ve read in a very long time.
If you want your reader to sympathise with your main character, perhaps don’t make him a drunk driver who, upon release from prison for killing someone by drunk driving, immediately drink drives again and does throughout the book. Added to that, he’s rude, blunt and obnoxious (and that’s just to the people who supposedly like him) and frankly, a total bell end. Easily one of the least likeable characters I’ve read for yonks...
Not sure if this was supposed to be a thriller (it wasn’t thrilling) or a drama (it wasn’t dramatic). Very few likeable characters and insanely boring. Then again, if you enjoy a book full of assholes driving around at night, drunk and moody then this is the book for you.
I had high hopes for this (and the author) due to many of the reviews and comments I’ve read and I guess the disappointment has pissed me off even more.
