This is such a sweet, at times heart wrenching story. I adore how Simon and Rocco meet and eventually come together. There is so much that Simon holds back from the rest of the world, enough that he suffers with anxiety and such low self esteem. He continually struggles to make and keep relationships, especially with his younger brother and keeping secrets definitely doesn't help with that. But when Rocco comes to town, Simon allows himself the time to just be in the other mans company, have some fun and provide comfort to each other. Rocco is in town escaping the bad show that his life has become now that his ex who is also his interpreter (Rocco is deaf) is now shacked up with his now ex agent. Of course with everything being on social media, there's not really anywhere to escape so the unexpected invitation from a quiet man that sent him a supportive message in ASL online sends him packing his bag and driving to Cherry Creek.
I really enjoyed this story. Simon and Rocco's relationship is quite unique, as is what they do when they spend time alone together or at least it is for Simon. Rocco allows him to feel brave, attractive and seen where Simon gives Rocco the support, understanding and affection that he needs. It feels like a natural development for their relationship as we go through the story. There's a fair amount that unfolds for both men but then they are now also there for each other which is something that they didn't have before Simon was brave for two minutes and sent a video of support to his favourite porn star.
There are a lot of characters who live about the small town that interact with both MC's, though it's often a struggle for Rocco as very few have thought to learn ASL before. Simon's relationship with his brother is filled with tension, a lot of it he's brought on himself but circumstances and people throughout his life have put it all on him and he's done the best that he can.
