The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor

challenging hopeful inspiring reflective fast-paced

4.5

The only reason that this book was half a star under 5 was simply because it seemed very surface level of a lot of issues and concerns raised in the book. However, I don't think it's a bad book! I think its surface level ideas would actually help people who are new to radical self-love, body shaming, and other such ideas discussed in the books (racism, transphobia, ableism, etc.), this is a good place to start! I don't think it's a detriment that it's more basic in what it's talking about. I think it's actually a benefit, as it can reach a wider audience with it's ideas, as it helps people get into these subjects in a more condensed and easier to digest way. While these concepts weren't something new to me, the idea of radical self-love is important to always remember, and reading the way she described it was interesting and beneficial to me.
