The Perfect Child
by Lucinda Berry
What I was expecting: a thriller reminiscent of Orphan or Ruth Ware’s Turn of the Key
What I got: lots of breastfeeding (????) one of the dumbest MMCs I’ve ever seen, and an antagonist that kept pissing herself. In a menacing way, I guess?
Most of the big action doesn’t happen until over halfway in, and then the book abruptly ends. It wasn’t terrible but could be described as a “potato chip book.” If you’re looking for a suspenseful horror/thriller, this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a quick read that feels kind of like a Lifetime movie, this may be perfect for you.
