The Animal Dialogues: Uncommon Encounters in the Wild by Craig Childs

4.0

This is a book to be savored. If you have even the tiniest affinity for the outdoors, you will find something to appreciate in the many encounter stories in this book. Being a desert rat, I had a particular affinity for the critter encounters featuring animals I have also crossed paths with - rattlesnakes, raccoons, deer, etc. I know the magic of finding a toad in a parched hollow, or the galvanizing shock that comes from realizing, after the fact, how close you had come to a dangerous encounter. I've even encountered a live, beached shark (although mine was much smaller!). I'll be revisiting this book in the future.
