Fortune Cookie by Cathy Cassidy

4.0

I must admit the surprise half-brother at the end of last book left me feeling a little nonplussed.
Then, the idea of having the final book narrated by a boy in such a girly series made me go all skeptical.
In one word: I had my doubts about Fortune Cookie.

But Cathy Cassidy's magic worked again! She created a whole universe and endearing backstory for Cookie and after reading the whole book, I feel like he's always been a part of this family. I was also wondering how she'd find a boy name that would go along with the others (let me remind you the girls are named Honey, Cherry, Summer, Skye and Coco, lol) but she found a pretty clever way to bypass that and I like it quite a lot!

The story was cute and lively as always, old conflicts were addressed/resolved and all in all, I don't see how the last book in such an adorable series could have been better.

I will miss the Chocolate Box Girls for sure, but it was time to end it, and I'm so glad it won't be dragged forever like some other series *cough*PLL*cough*.
