Yay! I finally finished this one! It was quite a slog. I was about ready to give up since I was almost two hundred pages in and he hadn't saved Friday yet. I hung in a little longer and was able to finish the book. I believe the first two thirds of the book could do with some editing. There was a lot (A LOT) of repetition. And he kept repeating things as well. Did I mention that he repeated himself a lot? Anyway, I got rather frustrated with Robinson. I couldn't believe that he was on this island for over 20 years and he NEVER explored the island. How did he know that there wasn't a colony on the other end of the island? Or that the other end of the island faced the shipping lanes and boats passed often? Seriously?!?! Or maybe there was a hatch...or a polar bear...or ??? Oh wait, that is a different story. ;) I think the last third of the book was the better part and I enjoyed that more than the first two thirds. I do not feel inclined to read any of the sequels.
