grew up with this book. i probably reread it every other year, and actually SHOULD make it a tradition since that's the whole gimmick of the book and i relate a bit too much to emma. love the paths both of them take - together, then apart, then together - and have always loved that it gave high school me a glimpse of how unpredictable life could be and how much you could fuck up too. sounds bad but for an anxious high schooler, reading about failure and misery being as much a beautiful part of growing up as romance and thrills and becoming yourself was really wonderful.

i also love a bantery, high chemistry, textured, best friendy romance, as a gemini venus. love this book foreverrrr

re: the ending:
idk i grew up on very Soap Opera K-Drama type endings being peak romance so i never really minded it. of course i wish they'd done better by emma, but i've had this book for so long and can't really bring myself to think of how it could be different, so i'm not docking points
