Lies Sleeping by Ben Aaronovitch

5.0

Not as great as The Hanging Tree - a solid 4 stars - but here is the thing: I have thoroughly enjoyed the Rivers of London series - novels, shorts, moments, and graphic novels all. Urban fantasy is one of my favourites and urban fantasy done well is wonderful. Urban fantasy with nerdy pop culture references (à la the Dresden Files) are the best, which Rivers of London has in plentitude. Throughout the series there's been the usual Tolkien, D&D, STNG, Doctor Who, Pratchett, Farscape, et al, but in Lies Sleeping Aaronovitch manages to adroitly slide in a Phineas and Ferb reference. He gets an extra star just for that. So 5 stars.
