Going Going Gone by Nicole Fiorina

Personally, I did not like this novella. It was told through I believe one nighttime party with a stranger from a band and a girl who's just too cool for them.

So much of this novella was too fantastical for me. You're going home with an absolute stranger. You're yelling in the middle of the street on a highway for a condom because you desperately want to have sex with said stranger. You almost get hit by a car because you're intoxicated and can't pay attention to your surroundings. Said stranger shoves you out of the way so you don't die and he gets angry you would put yourself in harm's way and stomps off.

As someone from deep southern Louisiana, I would have loved to see or hear more of the Creole culture of the main female character because truly, it is so fascinating. But naturally, the author does not have anything else to show for our main female character and her culture other than a single sentence on the first or second, or third page somewhere.

I understand wanting to add diversity in your novels, but what good does it do to throw a sentence in there claiming the ethnicity and culture of your characters if you aren't going to add anything else. Why is it just for the credit of having a diverse character? I would have loved to see some representation of the southern culture we have down here.
