I did not know what I was getting myself into when I picked up this book. Everything is going normal, the main character having an affair and then all of a sudden you get hit with some trauma.
I like books like this and think it adds grittiness but wanted give fair warning to anyone reading this review (specifically sexual assault/violence). The story, backstory and characters were written incredibly. Everything was realistic and at times bleak, but a real page turner. I was not expecting to like the book as much as I did, but it has so many layers that when you look back you start to remember all the things that happen, and wonder how she fit it so succinctly in one book.
I was looking through reviews and saw one person say that whilst they liked the book, they are sick of books where all the women have to have something traumatic happen to them to give them depth - which I agree with, so I gave it a 4.75 opposed to a 5.
