pdonnell777 's review for:
The Nightingale
by Kristin Hannah
Don't ask me how she did it, but Kristin Hannah made me care about these characters and the perils they faced in a Nazi occupied France. Usually novels about this time period make me feel like the author's goal is to get me slightly drunk on a hazy romantic cocktail of history, love, and war. However, Hannah's story stays grounded in a practicality that allowed me to stay present to the dangers facing the Rossignol sisters as they made difficult choices that would have both seen and unforeseen consequences.
