This book was well written but I was a little disappointed, maybe just because the plot summary led me to expect something more exciting and action-packed. Most of the story centered around the two main characters (Puck and Sean)'s life on the island and their preparations for the Scorpio Races, which are horse races involving killer sea horses with sharp teeth. It just sounded more interesting than it was to read. I liked the prose and the dialogue but there were just a lot of characters that weren't that interesting to me, and the book felt kind of long. Just seemed anticlimactic when the actual races were only the last few pages of the book, and most of the plot lines were already more or less tied up by then.
