Holy Smokes this was a good book. The first half was about the state of present knowledge and the second half was about competing theories of quantum gravity. I learned a lot about the ancient thought on physics that was lost in the Dark Ages. Then later I learned a lot about the loop quantum gravity although I can't say that I fully understand everything about it.
