Walden by Henry David Thoreau
4.0

I took my time with this book, knowing if I tried to read it at my normal pace I wouldn't be able to handle it. So after 6 months of reading a couple pages a day, I have finally finished. And I think it was the perfect way to read it. I was really able to focus on the text and the themes through small concentrated readings. I definitely wouldn't have been able to read it all the way through or even in a week.

Thoreau is a really beautiful writer, the way he describes nature and Walden is nothing short of spiritual. That said, there are a couple tedious sections about his plantings and house buildings, but overall it was a soul-cleansing book with many timeless ideas.
