Deeply Romantic
Star-Crossed...kinda
This was absolutely beautiful. If you are a "hopeless" romantic, this story is for you. The book tells you what is going on right away, so there was no big plot twist. However, that does not bother me. For me, this was about the journey of star-crossed lovers making their way back to each other. Megan's husband was killed in a car accident 5 years ago and moved to a small town to make her and her husband's dream of fixing up a Victorian house come true. There she meets Theo, a mute contractor, with trauma of his own, who seems to dislike her from the moment she arrives in town.
This did remind me a lot of Pen Pal. This was written first, though. The FMC is a widower with a similar personality. The MMC is a grumpy carpenter. Megan is fixing up a house. There were just things that over lapped.
The story of this book was what I expected the plot twist to be in Pen Pal.
