The grimoires were so fascinating and spooky, I kind of wish there were more horrifying interactions! There were many moments in this book that made me wonder if Nathaniel was inspired by Howl. I loved the magic system and Libraries, there was so much power mixed with whimsy and horror.
One negative I have is that the ending was so abrupt. It was an interesting choice, I wish there was more of a battle with a crashing end then just "bright light and fade to black- here's the epilogue". Also the last paragraph was so cheesy, i'm happy but i cringed a bit haha

Graphic: Body horror, Confinement, Misogyny, Panic attacks/disorders, Sexism, Forced institutionalization, Kidnapping, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Child death, Death of parent, Abandonment
