This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
3.0

“Some things don't last forever, but some things do. Like a good song, or a good book, or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times, pressing down on the corners and peering in close, hoping you still recognize the person you see there.”

This was my first Sarah Dessen book, and it wasn't what I was expecting. I felt kinda disappointed with this book. The name Sarah Dessen comes with such a hype, such adoration and apreciation, but I just dind't get any of those feelings from reading this book. The story itself was okay, it had an interesting premisse and I got curious. But it had such a slow pace, and some parts of this book just felt unnecessary even. As for the characters, I tolerated some, others not so much. Our main character was just soo gahh, no. I mean, I understand where all her actions and thoughts came from but for the most part she was just annoying; and most of the time, if I don't love the main character it's even harder to love the book. I read this months ago, when I finished it I just felt like mehh. A couple of months later I don't remember most of the story (bad sign) and I still feel mehh about this book. Anyway, 2.75*. However, I'm gonna keep trying to enter this whole world that is Sarah Dessen, until I find the right book of hers to love.

“I am coming to terms with the fact that loving someone requires a leap of faith, and that a soft landing is never guaranteed.”

.“You know, when it works, love is pretty amazing. It's not overrated. There's a reason for all those songs.”.
