The story pulled me in the moment I started reading.
Bastion’s childhood just tore at my heart and soul.
Wanting to get revenge against a mother who never protected or provided for him made sense.
But in order to really hurt his mother he was willing to use her innocent stepdaughter.
Hattie is a very naive young lady. Always wanting to make her parents proud.
Never causing trouble or problems. She loses herself to please her parents.
Church and work and visiting them is basically her whole life.
Until Bastion enters. Everything is about to be turned on its head.
Better hope revenge goes as planned. Because it might be you to get ruined.
And that is exactly what Bastion hadn’t counted on.
She opens his heart to feelings and emotions that he thought he would never have.
And he shows her life isn’t so ridged, isn’t so black and white.
Their character development was so awesome to get to see.
Loved all the twists and turns. The suspense and spice.
The story kept me gripped and invested in Hattie and Bastion.
