Although I would generally recommend Upgrade to Blake Crouch fans, I didn't love this one the way I did Dark Matter and Recursion. It's a sci-fi thriller with an intriguing premise involving genetic editing. I wanted to love it more, but the pacing was uneven and I did not find the narrator to be very likable. With Dark Matter and Recursion, there would be a creative sci-fi premise and things would get increasingly bonkers, but in a pretty fun way. This one never really hit the bonkers stage except that the villains were kind of Bond-esque in their maniacal certainty. Lacking in twists that challenged or surprised me.
Bottom line: it was good not great, but worth checking out for fans of this genre/author.
