Nefando by Mónica Ojeda

challenging dark emotional mysterious tense

4.0

This books is dark, disturbing and unsettling…but that’s the point. Ojeda wants you to understand pain, to make you uncomfortable and get under your skin. There is graphic content which was too much for me, but I understand that that was the point. We think of people who hurt people as monsters but they are just as human as the rest of us, “they weren’t victims of monstrosity, but of humanity”. This is a multi media story introducing us to six troubled characters all coping with trauma, redefining their trauma through art.
