The Plotters by Un-su Kim

I love finding stories that feel tailor-made for your enjoyment. A sarcastic, philosophical noir where haunting dialogue and haunted characters search for any slice of meaning in a world that has squeezed every last ounce of juice from the fruit of life? Camus and Kafka writing an assassin noir? Don't make too much of reviews that call this an alternate universe; it's more oddball than sci-fi, though a weepy evidence disposal cremator named Bear is probably my favorite touch.

If you like your action films with action taking a backseat to riveting storytelling and characters that continue to surprise, you'll be ensnared with this excellent tale.
