Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan
5.0
I read all 498 pages in one sitting. I have never had a book capture me so quickly and so powerfully. This is a beautiful story of family, friendship, love and devotion all beautifully spun into a cinematic tale. Tan has an amazing way with words. Her story telling is phenomenal, with profound lines like 'Why would a falcon wish to be a nightingale?'. It was so easy to fall in love with her characters and the love triangle, which I try to steer clear from, was so well done. I fell in love with both Liwei and Wenzhi as the incredible men they both were. And of course, the main character, Xingyin, is relatable, powerful, fierce and everything you hope a true heroine would be. I admired her honor and devotion on her quest to save her mother. I'm looking forward to the continuance of this story and where and who Xingyin's path may lead her.
