The Lead Cloak by Erik Hanberg

4.0

I really enjoyed this book! It hooked me with excellent writing (with only a couple of typos!) and a fascinating Big-Brother-style premise. It was well-executed overall, even if the action scenes at the end were a little too detailed to be snappy.

The main problem I had with this book, which will keep me from reading the rest of the series (aside from the fact I have to pay for them), was the adult content. In my mind, it's not really necessary to use the f-word at all, but especially not ten or fifteen times in a book. We also don't need the sex scenes, even to show a major issue with the futuristic tech. I promise you can write a fantastic, realistic story without using excess profanity or sex scenes!

The author did a great job with his worldbuilding and characterization; usually this genre is full of mediocre fiction that isn't awful, but isn't high-quality--The Lead Cloak breaks that trend in favor of high-quality material. Kudos to the author!
