Things I loved about this book: caring for elders, caring for your group/people/village/tribe/coven, the mentality of it takes a village, women supporting women, the adventure, the connection to nature and places and our pasts.
But the bad guy was too flat and stereotypical for me. He's every bad thing you ever thought of the patriarchy, but he's HOT. That's like, the only redeeming part. You're going to tell me some guy has amassed a huge fortune, has lived forever, and can't adapt to being a hideous monster? Is going to talk like he's back in the 1800s and yet with that same voice, commanded women? Gtfo.
The narrative (at least from a listening perspective) was also a bit off--we would go from no cussing at all into a a few, and then none. I didn't feel like individuals had their own voice/dialog style.
Overall, the book left a whole world that can be developed, but felt like we took all of our Down with the Patriarchy and channeled it into one man we needed to knock down.
