Review

Wow - this book was completely different to what I thought it was going to be, and I loved it.

A little girl is dumped in the passenger seat of a truck by her mother, the truck is not hers, and the woman just left her.

The truck belonged to a man called Jimmy Echohawk, he did not go to the police, even when he found out what happened to the woman, instead he raised the little girl as his own.

Blue Echohawk is a beautiful young girl, with issues. She is the local "skank" boys use her for a booty call, and she lets them. Blue is also very talented, she makes wood carvings, and they are good enough to sell, which she does at her local diner where she works.

School is just a mundane bore to her, and she tries to cause as much attention to herself as she can, even though she doesn't like it, it is attention after all !

Enter Mr Darcy Wilson!

Mr Wilson is the History teacher and Blue is fasinated by him, he even inspires some of her work.

This is quite a slow paced book, and I understand how some would call it slow and boring.

This book doesn't rush, Amy Harmon writes beautifully about friendship, trust, love and loss, and she does it at a pace that you become entwined with the characters.

A beautifully written 5☆ read.
