After That Night
by Karin Slaughter
I really enjoy Karin Slaughter books and was so pleased to get the opportunity to read this book. However, when I realised that it was number 11 in a series, I couldn't help be a little disappointed. I'm usually a huge fan of reading books in order, but I just didn't have time to read the previous 10. Thankfully, I didn't need to worry as I felt that this book worked really well as a standalone novel.
After That Night follows GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton. Sara battles to safe the life of a woman who has been brutally attacked and it becomes clear that this was linked to a violent attack on Sara herself, from 15 years ago. Will and Sara work together to find out what or who could possibly link the two attacks and discover much more than they bargained for.
I haven't met the characters of Will and Sara before, but I really feel as though I want to go back and re-read the previous books. Not because I felt as though I was missing things, but because I enjoyed them so much as characters.
This book was gritty and dark and full of twists and turns. I love how Karin Slaughter writes and she really does write a great thriller.
My only negative was that the chapters were SO long!
My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.
